An authentic silver hemidrachm of the Kings of Persis, issued under Darios I (Darayan I) between 150 BC and 100 BC. Struck at Persepolis, this half-drachm combines Persian dynastic portraiture with strong Zoroastrian symbolism, making it a highly collectible small denomination.

Obverse:

  • Bearded, diademed bust right.
  • Flat "kausia type" head dress.
  • Diadem lies on the forehead under the curled hair lock.
  • Crescent moon on top.

Reverse:

  • Fire altar with Ahura Mazda on top.
  • At left ruler standing facing right.
  • At right, eagle atop standard.
  • Aramaic inscription beneath.
