An authentic silver hemidrachm of the Kings of Persis, issued under Darios I (Darayan I) between 150 BC and 100 BC. Struck at Persepolis, this half-drachm combines Persian dynastic portraiture with strong Zoroastrian symbolism, making it a highly collectible small denomination.
Obverse:
- Bearded, diademed bust right.
- Flat "kausia type" head dress.
- Diadem lies on the forehead under the curled hair lock.
- Crescent moon on top.
Reverse:
- Fire altar with Ahura Mazda on top.
- At left ruler standing facing right.
- At right, eagle atop standard.
- Aramaic inscription beneath.
